Since April 23th is the date of birth or death of many famous authors (specially Shakespeare and Cervantes, but also Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, Vladimir Nabokov, Josep Pla, Hálldor Laxness,…) we celebrate the World Book Day, today.
As animal lovers we also have our favorite “authors”, whose memories (brought to us thanks to their owners subjective pen) testify the biggest expression of unconditional love. Those furry friends are sometimes the amazing stars of heartbreaking stories and always the main characters in the comedy of “Life is a big suprise”.
We want to celebrate this special day with you suggesting a few books that will touch you.

- Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World by Vicki Myron and Bret Witter
- I’m Maru, by mugumogu If you have ever searched Youtube for cat videos, sure you have seen Maru. Maru is the cat of a japanese blogger who recorded her pirouettes and posted on Youtube. Soon she became a trending topic. “Have you seen the cat that opens drawers?”, “Have you seen the video of the cat that plays with a box?”, “Have you seen the latest video of Maru?” Now you can see more pictures and short stories about her adventures in this book that includes a poster.
- A Lion called Christian by Anthony Bourke and John Rendall In 2008 an extraordinary two-minute film clip appeared on YouTube and immediately became an international phenomenon. It captures the moving reunion of two young men and their pet lion Christian, after they had left him in Africa with Born Free’s George Adamson to introduce him into his rightful home in the wild. This book explains the whole story of this very unusual friendship.
